Category Marketing Manager – Global-FMCG Business – Hybrid Working Options – Competitive Salary, Bonus + Benefits

We’re partnering with a leading FMCG business looking to appoint an experienced Category Marketing Manager to join their growing commercial team.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence category strategy across major UK retail and ecommerce customers, working at the intersection of Sales, Marketing and Category. You’ll use consumer and shopper insight to shape recommendations, support customer relationships and help drive sustainable growth across a well-known portfolio of brands.

Reporting into the Head of Category, you’ll play a key role in developing category strategies that deliver value for both customers and the business. Working closely with Sales, Brand Marketing, Insights and NPD teams, you’ll translate market trends and shopper behaviour into actionable recommendations that influence ranging, merchandising, promotions and new product development.

What you will be doing?

  • Develop category growth strategies across key retail customers.
  • Analyse market, consumer and shopper data to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Build compelling category reviews and customer presentations using insight-led recommendations.
  • Support National Account Managers during customer meetings with category expertise.
  • Deliver category vision projects that support long-term business growth.
  • Work closely with Brand and Marketing teams to align category strategies with brand plans.
  • Provide recommendations around pricing, promotions, assortment and shelf optimisation.
  • Monitor competitor activity, emerging trends and retailer performance.
  • Support NPD projects by identifying whitespace opportunities and validating concepts through insight.
  • Track category performance and provide regular reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Become the internal expert on shopper behaviour and market dynamics.

What you will have?

  • 2-5 years Category Management experience within the FMCG industry.
  • Strong understanding of UK grocery retail channels.
  • Understanding of Ecommerce platforms would be advantageous.
  • Experience of using market data (especially Nielsen/IRI/Kantar).
  • Experience working with major grocery retailers whether in a category or sales focused role.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to analyse large data sets.
  • A proactive approach with a passion for understanding consumers and shoppers.
