Pontefract is a market town in the West Riding of Yorkshire, with a population of 28,250 people. The town is well-known for its castle, confectionary industry, coal mining and horse racing. Today, there are only two sweet manufacturers in Pontefract, Haribo and Monkhill Confectionary, owned by Cadbury’s.
