The Futures family began trading over 25 years ago and we’ve grown to a thriving team of 45. We’re proud of our family culture built on respect, team work and shared goals.

Tom Ryan

Graduated with 2:1 in Business in 2003, Tom has 15 years’ experience in providing recruitment and resourcing solutions to the public sector. Tom specialises in social care systems and transformation programmes across adults and children’s services, and currently leads Futures public sector team comprising of 16 Consultants and Resourcers across social care transformation, education leadership and digital transformation. Following rapid success Tom moved from consultant to Director level and has been with Futures 15 years, 12 of which as a Director.

Jane Beard

Starting her journey at Futures 3 years ago as a Senior Resourcer, Jane supports the Corporate IT/Digital Transformation, Housing and Social Care systems team. An expert in her market, Jane has 20 years’ experience in the industry.

Outside of work Jane is a mum of three who enjoys netball, languages and attending beer festivals with her fiancée.

Mark Carr

Over the last 5 years Mark has built a wealth of experience across the public and private sector. He joined Futures in 2016 as our Interim Lead for Health & Social Care / Housing & Regeneration. Mark specialises in Local Authority Transformation Programmes from designing and implementing programmes to providing senior management.

Responsible for looking after the Midlands to the South of England, Mark has grown his network of senior and strategic Government contacts.

James Cottam

James joined Futures in June 2018 with over 2 years of experience in the industry. He supports both 1st and 2nd tier local authorities with their consultation, implementation of ICT/Digital Strategy, Transformation and Corporate projects and programmes.

He’s passionate about travel and in his spare time you can find him planning his next adventure.

Ryan Miller

Ryan is an experienced Consultant specialising in Interim Management Recruitment for Local Government. His areas of focus are Commissioning, Transformation and Programme Management across Children’s Services and Adult Social Care. Ryan looks after the North of England, the Midlands and around half of the London Borough’s.

Outside of the office, Ryan juggles his time between his three daughters, early morning gym sessions and attending various Rugby League grounds around the north.

Jonathan Kelsey

Jonny joined Futures as a Resourcer in 2017 covering public sector transformation within Local Government. He specialises in Social Care Systems, Digital Transformation & Information Governance.

Jonny spends his spare time DJ’ing, following Newcastle United and goalkeeping for the works 6-a-side football team.

Hannah McAdam

Hannah joined the team in 2018 after recently graduating with a degree in Psychology. She supports the Housing and Regeneration and Social Care team by providing market leading resources to help our public sector clients achieve their aims.

Outside of work Hannah enjoys spending time with her family and her dog Dexter.

Harriet Parker

Harriet is our newest member of the team joining Futures in 2019 as a Resourcer. Educated to degree level in Sociology she is passionate about the Social Care industry. Harriet supports senior and strategic roles for Local Authorities within Health and Social Care.

In her free time Harriet enjoys climbing and exploring new places and cities.

James Brennan

Joining Futures in 2017, James specialises in Social Care Systems and Performance Management. He liaises directly with Local Authorities to maximise their investment in Social Care Systems and reporting on children’s and adult social care data. His expertise has allowed him to deliver numerous timely, efficient and successful Local Government projects.

Tom Liptrot

A highly skilled strategist, business leader and expert in his field, Tom took his previous venture, Esprit People, from a two million pound turnover business to seventeen million in just 13 years. At its height Esprit People had fourteen offices across the UK each run by expert recruiters. Following major success of his work at Esprit People, in 2003 Tom moved on to set up Permanent Futures, a specialist recruitment agency with four niche areas of expertise. Tom is responsible for overall strategy, operations and project/contract management and a strong team of 47 highly skilled staff.

Penny Grattan

Educated to degree level in Events & Marketing with 7 years of experience project managing events and working across marketing campaigns. Penny is highly skilled in events management, content writing, campaign planning and social media and has worked on high profile campaigns for major multinational organisations and SMEs across a range of industries. In her spare time you’ll find Penny training, competing at Crossfit, spending time with her friends or eating Nandos.

Craig Farnsworth

Joining Futures back in 2013, Craig is the Manager for the South. He offers specialist Consultancy Services for School Improvement & Inclusion Recruitment. An ex secondary teacher, he is also an experienced consultant who has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Education Sector. Craig currently looks after the South East, East Midlands and East Anglia, and prides himself on offering quality candidates and a service that exceeds expectations.

In his spare time Craig enjoys most sports but in particular Football and Tennis, the gym and reading.

David Robinson

A part of the Futures team since the start of 2017, David is a Leadership, School Improvement and SEN consultant who has worked in education recruitment since graduating from his Masters degree in 2015. He focuses on roles within Local Authorities to appoint the highest quality candidates for a broad range of management and consultancy assignments. David prides himself on efficiency without compromising customer service.

Outside of work David composes music for video games, plays badminton, and spends time with his cat, Jigsaw.

Ellen Shepherd

Ellen has been at Education Futures since 2015; supporting, advising and managing both client and candidate expectations, ensuring the very best talent is placed into Schools, Trusts and Local Authorities. She is an experienced Consultant looking after Yorkshire and the Humber and the North East. Ellen has a pragmatic approach to identifying and attracting senior specialists, understanding how important it is to increase and maintain the level of teaching and learning standards.

In her spare time Ellen enjoys playing netball in the West Yorkshire County League, wine tasting and watching sport.

Sian Womersley

Siân joined Education Futures back in 2012 and brought with her a wealth of experience in delivering recruitment solutions that goes beyond expectations. Siân works across the North West and West Midlands area working with Clients on a long term basis to establish a bespoke solution to senior and specialist needs that come up within their teams and offering a unique approach to securing the very best talent. As the Manager for the North Siân is always keen to look at new approaches to attracting talent and is also very focused on ensuring the best possible service to both Clients and Candidates so that the team are chosen for all future requirements.

When she’s not at work Siân enjoys spending time with her family, taking her daughters dancing and swimming, and seeing live music.

Tom Haygarth

Tom is an Educational Recruitment specialist delivering a tailored and truly consultative approach. He works to identify, attract and recruit Senior Managers, Leaders and Consultants for Multi Academy Trusts and Schools across the South of England. He offers an intrinsic understanding of job functions, education industry trends and commercial issues providing confident consultancy advice to both candidates and clients on the best possible solutions to their needs.

Outside of work Tom loves spending time with his family and suffering the ongoing misery of Newcastle United – tempered with a glass of wine or two!

Lucy Black

Lucy joined Futures in March 2019 with a keen interest in the Education system. She resources for Team North, supporting Senior Leadership and Specialist roles within Schools, Multi Academy Trusts and Local Authorities. Educated to degree level in Social Policy and Sociology, her studies allowed her to research many aspects of the Education Sector.

In her spare time Lucy enjoys travelling around the world and visiting new destinations.

Tamika Hitchman

Tamika joined Futures in January 2019 with a sales background as a lettings negotiator. As the Compliance Officer for the Education team, Tamika makes sure all of our Contractors are fully complaint and ready to be out working.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym and teaching dance lessons.

Laura Chapple

Laura joined Futures in July 2019 as a resourcer, supporting Senior Leadership and Specialist roles within Schools, Multi Academy Trusts and Local Authorities across the South of England and the East Midlands. Before this she completed a degree in Television Production, seizing the chance to gain work experience with Channel 7 News in Australia, as well as with the props department for an upcoming film.

In her spare time she enjoys scriptwriting and going to festivals.

Chris Griffin

Chris is the Divisional Manager for the Manufacturing team. He heads up a team of 10
Consultants and Resourcers specialising in their own niche areas of the manufacturing industry. Outside of that he has a keen interest in all things electronics and still retains billing relationships with electronics related clients.

Hobbies include things that, believe it or not, are even more stereotypical than family, friends, music, football and socialising!

Dan Trifunovic

Joining the team back in 2017, Dan is an Engineering Consultant on the Manufacturing team. Futures is Dan’s first taste of recruitment and he has managed to fit in brilliantly. From starting out sourcing good candidates for others, Dan has now built a portfolio of distinguished clients within the world of manufacturing and is quickly becoming the ‘go to’ guy for engineers across Yorkshire.

Outside of work Dan holds several international DJ residencies including Outlook (Croatia) and Boomtown, as well as having several albums released (Spotify: Danny T & Tradesman. If you like reggae, you’ll like Dan!).

David Christie

Well networked, with relationships going back over forty years since going to university in the 60s, David has worked in manufacturing as HR Manager, MD and for the last thirty years, in recruitment. David still remembers computer-less recruitment when it was all about having a great memory.

David works three days a week and when he’s not here at Futures, you can find him out on the golf course or relaxing in some Spanish sunshine.

Jessica Thompson

Jess is the first point of call for new candidates, handling administration and compliance on behalf of the team. With her primary role as a Resourcer she focuses her time on candidate management.

Jess has been part of the Futures family since 2017 and in that time has bought her first home and renovation project, reserving weekends for decorating, family and friends.

Mike Grossbard

Mike’s our ‘go to guy’ for information on manufacturing, an Engineer by trade with over 30 years’ in Recruitment, working with both Blue chips and SMEs, there isn’t much he doesn’t know about manufacturing or the type of people in it. His specialist areas include, High level Technical staff, Sales Managers in Valves, Pumps and Sealing and High volume Manufacturing. Mike has strong market knowledge and an even stronger network of contacts.

Outside of work you'll find him dressing up to attend 40's weekends or chilling to an eclectic mix of tunes from Swing to Heavy Metal. He also likes to dance too only these days the slower the better!

Alex Myers

Alex joined Futures in 2018 after graduating from University with a 2:1 in Business Management. As a Resourcer, predominantly within the electronics industry, you’ll find him networking with a wide range of candidates throughout Yorkshire in order to match the perfect candidate with the position in hand.

In his spare time Alex plays a lot of sport including cricket, football and golf. When he’s not playing cricket he can be found following Leeds United through their ups and downs.

Charlie Rigg

Charlie started with the business in March 2018, after completing an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. The experience gained through this has been invaluable in helping him build a thorough understanding of client’s recruitment needs. His role involves predominantly assisting Precision Engineering companies with Technical Hires throughout Yorkshire.

Outside of work Charlie enjoys following Liverpool FC and planning his next holiday to visit new places across the world.

Becky Blayney

A part of the Futures team since 2015, Becky is a Resourcer for the Manufacturing team. Her role involves sourcing and selecting candidates for a number of engineering roles within the industry from sales to quality right through to maintenance and all sorts in between. Becky started with Futures as a Consultant, and after leaving on maternity in 2017, has now returned to the team part time after becoming a mum of twin boys which certainly keep her busy on those extra days off!

Mark Johnson

As Divisional Manager for the Food and Drink team, Mark’s positive attitude and leadership style not only rubs off on his team but also clients and candidates on a daily basis. A part of Futures since 2013, he leads a team of 4 specialist Consultants and Resourcers with a sole focus on the Food and Drink industry and clients ranging from massive billion-pound turnover brand names through to niche SMEs.

Outside of work we’re confident you will not find a bigger Cas Tigers Rugby League fan.

Ferdie Habing

Ferdie is our Drinks Industry Specialist and has been with Futures for 2 years. His recruitment and consulting is focused around mid to senior level positions which include Directors, Senior Management, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical NPD and HR. Ferdie’s knowledge and experience stem from a background in Hospitality and Sales allowing him to thoroughly understand the needs of his clients and candidates. Ferdie’s passion for the drinks industry is what drives him to deliver a first class service.

Evenings and weekends tend to be for friends and family. And on the occasional Monday morning Ferdie will treat the office with his keen baking skills.

Erica Modena

Erica specialises in consulting with food and drink manufacturers, managing accounts on a global scale. She joined the Food and Drink division at Futures in January 2019 and has been recruiting for manufacturing businesses, both blue chip and SMEs, since February 2017. She provides both interim and permanent recruitment solutions for mid-level to senior appointments.

In her spare time Erica runs for a local running club and competes in races across the UK.

Jonathan Bell

A part of the Futures family for 4 years now, Jonathan has been successful recruiting exclusively in the food industry, building strong relationships with some of the UK’s leading food manufacturers. Offering a comprehensive and consultative approach for both client and candidates, he recruits for mid to senior level roles for his client base of blue chips through to SMEs.

In his spare time Jonny is extremely sporty, filling the majority of his spare time out on either the cricket field or the golf course.

Jack Hyde

Starting his journey at Futures two years ago as an apprentice, Jack is now exclusively recruiting within the Food Manufacturing industry. Jack prides himself on his consistency, quick turnaround and dedication building both client and candidate loyalty.

Outside of the office Jack is a season ticket holder at Leeds United and enjoys playing football himself when he’s not out supporting.
