About the role


As part of succession planning for this machinery manufacturer in Brighouse we are currently seeking a Technical Manager to oversee new product development. We are seeking an individual with an Electrical and Controls design background in special purpose machinery or machine tool, particularly with motion control experience. Naturally, product specific training will be given by the MD who was the Technical Manager himself and is still actively involved in development but needs to be able to step away to concentrate on other duties. The company is working on the latest iteration of its machines and the Technical Manager will have significant input on the design.

Key responsibilities:
Responsible for creating and developing new products and improving existing products.
Liaise with sales and technical and production staff at key stages in product development.
Support manufacturing and design activities including developing prototypes for new products.
Provide technical support to purchasing and production departments with design issues and product selection.
Assist purchasing with managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers and key business suppliers.
Ensure all products comply with the relevant directives and standards and that relevant documentation is included in the CE and UKCA technical files.
Perform design and machinery risk assessments
Produce and maintain electrical design drawings
Production of product training and user manuals.
Be able to provide technical feedback so sales can maintain good customer relations.

You:
Qualified to at least HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Strong experience in motion control and automation
Motion and stepper motor control system experience
Knowledge of prototypes and the full product lifecycle
Understanding of software writing /coding
Good customer facing skills
Proficient with the main MS Office suite
Self-motivated, ambitious and motivated
Able to travel Nationally and Internationally when required.
