About the role


Futures are looking to appoint a Pre-Development technical evaluation Engineer.

The Client who has a global network is eager to expand its production of new and pioneering products.

Overall Purpose of the job:
This is a new and exciting role within the business, which offers an opportunity to shape and develop the role in what is a critical element of the NPD process that will ensure development risks are identified and mitigated prior to the commencement of a new product development, you will report to the Engineering Manager.
We need you to be responsible for development of new projects to facilitate their transfer into the NPD development plan.
This will include, but not be exclusive to complete assemblies, electronic and pneumatic actuators, switches, valves, material evaluation and where required, in vehicle testing.

Design and Development, Product Engineer, Mechatronic systems, Automotive, Testing, Electronic and Pneumatic, New Products, Management, Evaluating and Investigating.

Key Tasks Include:
Lead and manage Technology products development
Accountable for the evaluation and performance testing of actuators/sensors and switches in house and with suppliers
Design and coordinate testing programs for NPD and Technology projects
Compile and maintain timing plans for live projects
Complete reports and documentation for testing including updates to the product database (PDB)
Manage day to day activities and work load planning for the Technical Engineer
Become the mechatronic lead for the Engineering function
Coordinate with other group businesses to expand knowledge and capability of the engineering team on the testing and validation of the products and their associated components
Liaising with suppliers and Supply chain teams
Accountable for maintaining house-keeping standards in the Metrology/Electronic test equipment room
Provide cover for the Technical engineer role through holidays and absence
Conduct, support and run product testing including on vehicle tests
. Responsible for engineering vehicle maintenance, road tax, MOT etc
. Supporting and conduction investigations for CCN, ECR, SCAR
Development and drafting of Engineering procedures
Follow company processes and procedures

About you:-

Design and Development, Product Engineer, Mechatronic systems, Automotive, Testing, Electronic and Pneumatic, New Products, Management, Evaluating and Investigating.

Apprentice Trained Engineer or degree level qualified or have you extensive experience in engineering NPD within the automotive industry

Previous experience in a production/manufacturing/ test engineering role within an automotive or highly technical engineering industry
Experience in the development and or testing of automation and mechatronic systems
Experience in new product introduction/ development
Experience of defining specifications, design intent, testing and fault diagnostics
Good understanding of following product quality processes

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Desirable
Previous experience gained in developing engine components
Vehicle and engine systems
Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics
knowledge and working capability of 2D/3D CAD modelling ideally Solid Works and/or Draft sight
Measurement instrumentation
Product testing
Understanding of TS16949/ISO9001:2015
