About the role


My client, a rail manufacturing business in South Yorkshire, are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer. The appointed Supplier Quality Engineer will have a good practical understanding of generic quality principles and at least two years’ experience in a solely supplier quality focused role. There will be occasional travel to suppliers. Rail experience is required.

Supplier Quality Engineer – Role & Responsibilities – Quality Engineer / PPAP / Supply Chain / Audits / Supplier Quality / Lean / Rail

* Contribute supplier development and process improvements plans, audits and performance management
* Leading the relocation of parts from one supplier to another, providing overall project management of the component transfers to a suitable conclusion
* Working with suppliers to develop a robust improvement plan
* Conduct system/process audits both internally and at potential and existing suppliers
* Liaise with suppliers and other team members to resolve problems and manage all quality related issues within the manufacturing team
* Conduct quality defect investigations and use route cause analysis to prevent any re occurrences of fault. You will apply robust long-term containment actions including problem solving and analysis techniques e.g. 8D, SPC, FMEA, Taguchi, 5 WHY, LEAN, 6 Sigma, to overall supplier performance
* Work with manufacturing and design on DFM procedures to improve production cycle time

* Minimum of five years’ experience in a quality focused role with at least two years’ experience in a supply quality position
* Personable and flexible, with a commercial outlook
* Strong people and supplier management skills with a keen eye for detail
* Disciplined but practical approach to processes and procedures
* Rail experience
