About the role


Manufacturing Futures are working with a leading waste-to-product manufacturing business to appoint an experienced Shift Manager. The successful Shift Manager will covering 4 on / 4 off days and night shift pattern. Our client handles more than 15 million tonnes of waste annually to achieve a 90% recycling and recovery rate which in turn and avoids 3 million tonnes of carbon pollution. They have the broadest range of waste-to-product services in the industry.

Roles and Responsibilities Shift Manager / Plant Manager / Site Manager / Manufacturing Manager / Engineering / Operations Manager / Plant Manager

– Control all operations and engineering activities
– Review KPIs for the facility and adjust plans to ensure overall
– Lead and develop a team of operators including, discipline, managing of absence, identifying training needs and managing personal development reviews
– Ensure that full service delivery complies with contractual commitments
– Ownership of the SHEQ culture and behaviour for the contract
– Ensure the timely completion of actions by the management team, identified through internal and external audits
– Realise productivity targets, ensuring cost effectiveness
– Ensure staff resource levels are adequate to support delivery of business requirements, whilst remaining within cost budgets

Skills and Attributes Shift Manager / Plant Manager / Site Manager / Manufacturing Manager / Engineering / Operations Manager / Plant Manager

– Possess operations qualifications such as C&C Plant and Plant operations, or suitable experience.
– A Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH managing safely
– At least 5 years experience in a similar role
– Proven track record of delivering process improvement and standardisation in complex B2B2C regulated service industry
– Strong leadership and line management skills with a coaching style that gets the best out of people, balanced with an edge that is not over-tolerant of poor performance
– Exceptional attention to detail
– Established and skilled negotiator
– Ability to build and maintain strong, cohesive teams with high morale and outstanding output
– In depth understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance
– Computer literate

Desirable skills

– Proven competency in managing steam raising boilers and associated equipment
– Engineering or process qualification HND / Degree (or equivalent experience)
– A management qualification or strong demonstrations of the ability to lead and develop a team
– A waste management qualification, such as COTC
