About the role


Due to increased business levels our Engineering Manufacturing client is looking to employ an experienced Buyer to add to their team.
The Buyer will be responsible to develop the supply base to meet specification, quality, inventory, delivery and cost objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for managing new product sourcing and resourcing, supplier negotiations (price and terms & conditions), manage the supply base, contract management, cost avoidance, and cost down initiatives.

Buyer/Purchasing/Price Negotiation/Terms Negotiation/Cost Down/Service Level Agreements/Projects/Manufacturing/ERP/NPD

Responsibilities:
– Work closely with Engineering and Development to drive procurement activities, supplier negotiation and cost projections for
new product development projects;
– Identify and manage cost containment projects to drive net material inflation improvement;
– Negotiate procurement terms, conditions and pricing with suppliers;
– Identify suppliers capable of supplying the company’s product portfolio and lead the cross functional team to qualify new
suppliers;
– Ensure organizational compliance to defined terms and conditions;
– Plan, forecast, place & expedite orders with deliveries timed to meet shipping requirements.
– Manage Request for Quotes, evaluation of quotes, consider tooling, the return on investment, breakeven analysis and/or annual
total.
– Support the operation to ensure material needed to build the company’s products are available when needed by the operation;
– Review supplier requests for design changes, evaluate the cost impact, and coordinates with engineering and the supplier if
determined to go forward.
– Identify and manage projects that drive supplier on-time delivery improvement;
– Identify and manage projects that drive supplier performance improvement;
– Identify and manage projects that drive inventory turn improvement;
– Lead metric-based business reviews with key suppliers;
– Responsible for master data entry and integrity of vendor master records, purchasing information records, and contracts.

Knowledge and experience:
– Experience of procurement in a project based, work order, manufacturing environment
– Extensive procurement/purchasing experience
– Experience of working with new product development
– Demonstrable knowledge of a wide range of material requirements such as sheet metal, sectional steel, bar etc
– Proven negotiating skills
– IT Literate and capable across the MS Office suite
– ERP /MRP experience advantageous
