About the role


Our client, a well-established specialist machining business are looking to appoint a Production who will be responsible for creating CNC programmes in accordance with customer drawings and supporting documentation to manage machining operations effectively and precisely; designing fixtures and tooling; creating set up and tooling sheets. Reporting to the Works Manager, the Production Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and improvement of the utilisation of machines on the turning section.

Production Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/CNC/FANUC/Offline programming

Main Duties:

– Programming using FANUC controls, Autodesk Feature CAM and of various CNC machine tools to produce turned components to tight tolerances and creating process documentation.
– Editing programmes using Cimco Edit software
– Ensuring all programmes are available for each machine as per the production plan
– Checking completed programs by running simulations or tests to determine the most efficient cycle times
– Choosing cutting tools, fixtures and measuring equipment.
– Monitoring of consignment tooling stocks, orders special tools and equipment etc.
– Monitoring machine performance, including cycle times, setup times and implement action to improve utilization.
– Liaising with the engineering teams; covering job requirements, specifications, challenges, tooling, work holding, machining method etc.
– Supporting the Works Manager in the following areas; recruitment, training, machine planning, process development and quality control.

Production Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/CNC/FANUC/Offline programming

Within the role you must demonstrate the following:

– Demonstrate full understanding of FANUC controls, Autodesk Feature CAM, Cimco Edit editing system and Autodesk Fusion 360.
– Ability to program from engineering drawing to manufacturing.
– Enthusiastic, self-starter, and able to work on own initiative.
– A positive attitude
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Improvement and best practice of manufacturing techniques including setups.
– Be approachable, with the ability build credible relationships with staff at all levels of the organisation but especially with the shop floor personnel.
– Good time management, and ability to work to deadlines.
– Possess excellent knowledge of MS office software, including Word and Excel.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide a responsive and pragmatic service.
– Ability to champion and drive improvements in a production environment.
– Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
– Ability to demonstrate best practice manufacturing techniques.
