About the role


We are looking to appoint a hands on metallurgist/chemical engineer for a waste processing manufacturer. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry and be willing/able to do hands on metallurgy operating the pilot scale furnaces.

Metallurgist/Chemical Engineer/ / Furnace Operator / Pyrometallurgy / Hyrdometallurgy / R&D

The successful candidate will also deliver mid-sized research and development projects to generate new processes and technical understanding of the smelting and refining processes that actively translate into commercial value.

Key responsibilities:
Ability to manage R&D Projects
Innovation and creativity to deliver business objectives
Identify key technical work required for business development and improvement and lead the projects through to completion
Generate and review project documents generated by wider teams
Carry out commissioning work on new and existing plant
Develop and improve pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, thermal and concentration processes in conjunction with customers, internal departments and external technology suppliers
Willing to do hands on Metallurgy
Monitor and analyse operational processes and data, supporting resolution of issues, participating in root cause analysis of incidents that occur within the Brimsdown site
Carry out appropriate risk assessments (Risk, COSHH, Manual Handling, etc) for the development work
Provide technical expertise including developing process flow diagrams, conducting trials on new equipment and collecting data for design
Demonstrate leadership in EHS and contributes to all required aspects of safety reviews within the business

Metallurgist / Chemical Engineer / Furnace Operator / Pyrometallurgy

Qualifications:
A Degree (Masters preferably) in Metallurgical Engineering or relevant Science discipline with extensive hands on practical, experience
Excellent project management skills and an ability to work in an environment that necessitates an agile approach to project delivery
Experience supervising and coaching a technical team and aligning your outputs to business initiatives
