About the role

Manufacturing Manager: Our client, a long established manufacturer, is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Manager for their fast paced production site. Managing a small team of around 20 people on shift at any one time the successful Manufacturing Manager will have close ties with the shop floor, leading a team to meet daily KPI’s, and have experience of a time sensitive, volume manufacturing environment. This role is about people skills and enforcing basic standards of behaviour. You do not need to be a technical expert. You need to be a good manager of people.

Although the majority of staff are permanent at peak times your team may be strengthened with the addition of contract / agency staff. It would be beneficial for the Manufacturing Manager to have had had previous experience of managing temporary staff with the issues this can bring up.

Previous work experience in a lean manufacturing environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of continuous improvement, but with a focus on common sense improvement rather than the intricacies of particular methodologies. The Manufacturing Manager ultimately chosen for this role can come from a wide range of backgrounds. Applications are particularly encouraged by candidates from any volume manufacturing background with a skilled or semi-skilled workforce.
