About the role

Our client, an international manufacturing business with multiple sites throughout the UK, seek to appoint a Group Procurement Director to lead activities that drive down inventory and lead times whilst improving on time delivery and purchasing margins. As Supply Chain Director you will introduce new tools and processes to develop the overall supply chain capability of different factory teams. You will be of degree calibre with a long history within supply chain management for manufacturing businesses. You will liaise with purchasing departments to take the lead negotiating with suppliers for direct procurement. It is important that you have a full and thorough grasp of purchasing for a complex multi-site manufacturing and distribution operation to reduce expected lead times for both suppliers and customers and whilst removing cost to improve profitability.

Group Procurement Director – Role and Responsibilities Procurement / Manufacturing / Production Scheduling / Purchasing

* Functionally lead the supply-chain teams across multiple manufacturing plants
* Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement actions around OTD to drive plant performance above a sustainable 95%
* Lead inventory modelling, reporting and action plans
* Implement strategic supply chain improvement tools to manage the inventory reduction, OTD improvement, slow and non-moving stock provision and customer lead-time
* Support supplier development teams in lean supplier development activity (e.g. use of SMED to reduce batch sizes)
* Work in close collaboration with the lean community to embed lean supply-chain including responsibility for the implementation of lean supermarkets in our plants

Group Procurement Director – Skills and Abilities – Procurement / Manufacturing / Production Scheduling / Purchasing

* Educated to degree level or with appropriate work place experience/qualification
* Experience with and sound knowledge of manufacturing supply-chain and Lean methodology
* Ability to teach others effectively. Trainer skills certification preferred
* A tough negotiator who will take a hands on approach when dealing with suppliers
* Strong data analysis and capture skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven presentation skills, including use of common tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Ability to engage a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome. Previous experience coordinating complex projects successfully
