About the role


Futures Manufacturing are looking to speak with Electronic Design Engineers who can utilise your knowledge and practical skills to design analogue, digital and opto-electronic systems.

Challenges:
Balancing requirements between quality, timescales and costs, to achieve neutrality where possible.
Delivering projects on time which are cost-effective and within the limitations of current systems.
Ensuring knowledge is shared between team members in case of absence or change in team members.
Working on conflicting priorities, managing the expectations of stakeholders and effective time management.
Be able to solve problems when they occur at all stages of the development cycle, when identified internally or by a customer.
Changing standards requirements requiring shift in design practice

Large product range covering a large selection of markets

Responsibilities:

Work independently and as part of a team in the development of new products – from briefing stage, research current and new technology, develop concepts
and draw schematics, ahead of designing PCB layouts and prototyping, whilst ensuring products are designed to specification, are high quality, reliable
and cost effective.
Utilise your expertise to manage prototype builds, functionality and reliability testing, fault finding, reporting technical issues to project leaders where
necessary, liaising with the Component Engineer to identify suitable components based on performance, cost and availability.
Draft system & schematic design, test and verify circuit layouts and printed circuit boards (PCBs), solve EMC and safety issues, investigating and resolving
issues with new and legacy products, support with production issues and advise on new components and technologies.
Work cross functionally with various teams across the business, including mechanical and software, and liaise with customers and suppliers, to ensure the
efficient development of our devices.

Requirements:

Electronic circuit design and simulation for consumer and industrial markets, with appreciation of firmware requirements and limitations.
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to be used at all times during the design phase.
PCB layout and Gerber Data Generation.
Verification testing of prototype and pre-production samples.
Use defined procedures for PCBA & Cable Harness design and new component selection to achieve goals.
EMC and safety awareness and best practice.
Knowledge of submission of products to test labs/notified bodies
Familiarity with EMC testing procedures
Ability to problem solve in situ
Familiarity with I.T. EN standards and relevant EU/Global regulations (e.g. RoHS, WEEE

Targets:

Produce high quality electronic designs, to ensure quality, reliability, cost effectiveness and manufacturability.
Minimising faults raised against features implemented.
Drive product development based on specifications agreed on with customers and other stakeholders.
Up to date compliance certification on all products
Product specific target market certification

Lead and deliver on multiple electronics projects on time and to budget, maintaining relationships with and expectations of other key business functions and
stakeholders, to ensure buy-in and that work and outputs are aligned.
Monitor for updates to global standards and requirements that may impact their product range and advise the business on predicted impact.
Ensure all certificates and declarations:
oStandards changes
oWork with other departments to verify changes
Work with test labs to ensure swift testing of products to required standards
Pre-submission safety inspection
Pre-compliance EMC testing in-house
Construct and maintain all required documentation relating to regulatory compliance
Develop, refine and implement compliance strategies for the company/products
Communication of certification/approval status to rest of business
