About the role


Education Futures are currently working exclusively with Churchward School in Swindon to appoint a Deputy Head Teacher.

Churchward is a forward thinking and innovative special school with a very exciting future ahead. Having opened in September 2018 as an 11-19 free school on the outskirts of Swindon, the school has moved to a purpose built building in Tadpole Garden Village in the area of North Swindon in September 2020 which accommodates 75 students with a diagnosis of autism and/or social communication and interaction difficulties. The building offers a blend of therapeutic support rooms alongside general classroom spaces designed to support the academic, social and emotional progress of the students. The building also houses specialist teaching rooms enabling students to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and/or accreditation.

Due to the planned expansion and successful growth of Churchward School, we are expanding our senior leadership team and are seeking to recruit an inspirational and dynamic Deputy Head Teacher (Quality of Education). This post will help shape the future of the school and support the success of its students through the development of innovative Teaching & Learning strategies and practice.
Our vision is that every student, regardless of their background or the challenges they face, can succeed and gain meaningful qualifications that support the next steps in their lives whatever that may be. We work closely with external providers and outside agencies to create the best academic and therapeutic curriculum possible for each individual student.

We have very high aspirations for all our students and are looking for someone who shares our beliefs and values.

To be successful in this role, you must be an outstanding classroom practitioner, have 5 years SEND teaching experience, have experience of safeguarding and be willing to follow the school safeguarding policy and have experience of curriculum development taking into account students with SEND.
