The team here at Futures have raised £650 for our charity partner Leeds Mind to contribute towards running Online Peer Support groups.
On Thursday 29th October we took part in the Carry the Burden campaign, where members of the the team picked an item of their choice (no matter how big, small or bizarre) to carry around all day to represent the invisible burden that those with mental health difficulties carry on a daily basis.
In difficult and lonely times, this is a cause very close to our hearts and we are thrilled to be able to support mental health locally through raising funds to operate crucial support services like the Online Peer Support groups run by Leeds Mind.
“So many people are, understandably, currently struggling with their mental health but feel unable to talk about it (especially during these weird times of uncertainty and isolation!) It is so important to raise awareness and destigmatise discussions around mental health difficulties. I chose a cactus because being immersed in nature always clears my mind.” – Harriet, Resourcer, Futures
We look forward to planning our next event to support Leeds Mind.
