COVID-19 has both highlighted and heightened the need for change in many areas, economic development and regeneration for city centres and high streets being one of them. Local Authorities across the UK now have a huge role to play in order to support local businesses, build new visions for city centres and transform local economies to be more robust. Bridging the gap between socio-economic and physical regeneration has never been more important, and in order to happen, it requires place-based specialists to provide an agile, innovative and diverse approach.
The right resources
Schemes such as the Future High Streets Fund, High Streets Heritage Action Zones and Garden Communities are allowing Local Authorities to secure additional funding for their Towns and Cities however having the right individuals backing these schemes is vital for a successful delivery and to help deliver the strategic policies to address local priorities for development.
